Ralph’s R.I.P. one year later

Monday, May 22nd marks the one year anniversary of the closing of Ralph’s. It has been a tumultuous year in the Fargo scene since with the closing of subsuqent venues, shows being moved at the last minute and all around confusion and chaos about the future. Its a wonder things are still going and indie rock bands are still coming to town. But it is still happening and in honor of that, the Aquarium presents 3 shows this weekend for a little thing being called Not Dead Yet: the 1st anniversary of Ralphs closing. The 3 acts headlining all played Ralphs multiple times so its only fitting.

First up on Thursday is Vaz, a band which features ex members of Hammerhead Jeff Mooridian and Paul Erickson. For those that don’t know, Hammerhead were one of the biggest Fargo bands in the early to mid 1990′s who along with godhead Silo got out of town and signed to an indie record label after opening for touring bands coming through Fargo, who then went home and started raving about them. In Hammerhead’s case they moved to Minneapolis and signed with Amphetamine Reptile records. Hammerhead’s records cemented Fargo’s place in the noise rock scene. They spawned a ton of copycats in Fargo and for a while it seemed almost 90% of the local original bands sounded like they wanted to be on Am Rep. Somewhere along the line Hammerhead broke up but Jeff and Paul decided they still wanted to play together. They formed Vaz as a two piece in 1998 moving first to LA and eventually landing in New York City. They recorded for GSL and most recently Narnack Records. Along the way, they added former Fargoan Adam Marks of the Seawhores to the fold. There are still definite elements of the classic Hammerhead sound, but Vaz definitely brings to a whole new level. Vaz perform Thursday at the Aquarium with locals Cut and Run, Echo, and Awesome Dudes Forever. Cover is $6, music starts at 10 pm and you must be 21 to go.

Friday brings Seattle’s Pleaseeasaur to town. They did 2 shows at Ralphs opening for Neil Hamburger a ways back. Pleaseeasaur recently signed to Comedy Central Records, which will release their first CD/DVD on the label this fall. The animation for the DVD wil be done by Sealab 2020/Adult Swim animator Christian Danley. Pleaseeasaur present a hilarious musical slideshow complete with costumes and props. While lead singer JP Hasson is singing comedic tunes such as Beef Flavored Island, Strangers Have the Best Candy, and Warning: These Cobras are Totally Cool, projectionist Thomas Hurley puts up slides and images on a screen which make for even more laughs. Its not suprising that Comedy Central signed the band as they seem to have a knack for making the ordinary funny. Pleaseeasaur perform Friday at the Aquarium with openers local surf rockers The Throbbing Hot Rods and comedian Adam Hagen. Cover is $5 for those 21 and up and the acts start at 10:30 pm.

Former Fargoans the Deaths return to town on Saturday ahead of recording for their new album. The Deaths last album The Choir Invisible will be re-released for national distribution this fall on Chicago’s Essay Records. The Deaths, who now reside in Minneapolis, have always been crowd favorites in their hometown. Their sound belies their name, as they drip heavy in 60′s psyche pop ala The Zombies, the Kinks and Love. Since their last visit to Fargo headlining the Winter Carnivale in February, the Deaths played the SXSW Festival in Austin, TX earning sleeper pick honors from the Austin Chronicle. The Deaths will play a mix of old and new on Saturday as later this month they will commence recording the follow up to the Choir Invisible so they come armed with plenty of new songs. Opening the show are Ohio’s Tough and Lovely, 60′s tinged garage pop, who stole the show at the VFW last fall, highlighted by singer Lara Yazvac’s pipes, which sounded like a garage rock Janis Joplin. First up is the return of Trashed Actor. Music begins at 10:30 at the Aquarium for 21 and up with a $6 cover.

I took 1 st home loans when I was 25 and it helped me a lot. Nevertheless, I require the short term loan once more time.

It is understandable that cash can make people disembarrass. But what to do when one has no money? The one way only is to receive the business loans and bank loan.
